South Korea to increase supplies for discount-fuel stations.

In its continuing quest to cut pump prices and decrease market dominance by major refineries SK Innovation, S-Oil, GS Caltex, and Hyundai Oilbank, South Korea has said it will supply even more oil products to the country's governmental initiative discount-fuel stations. These stations, 785 in total, have thus far received 20% of their oil products from Korea National Oil Corp, which will soon purchase its second 100K-bbl Chinese gasoline shipment for the sole purpose of discount-fuel station supply. The stations have also received 30% of product from Samsung Total Petrochemicals, which plans to ramp up production to 86K b/month in Dec. and 120K b/month in early 2013. The company supplied 43K b/month to discount fuel stations in Oct., and has an actual gasoline output capacity of 190K b/month.
