Opposition to the carbon pricing scheme in Australia vowed it will be repealed before becoming a law next month. Climate change minister Greg Hunt stated, "We will absolutely deliver our mandate [for repeal]." Fears of carbon emissions taxes leading to job losses and higher costs have prompted Tony Abbott, Liberal Party leader, to proclaim a "blood oath" for repealing the scheme if his party wins the approaching election. The government, however, believes the repeal pledge is "absurd" and "Australia would suffer as an investment destination."
