摘要

The Abbot administration in Australia is making a second attempt get the Clean Energy Legislation Bill 2013 through the country's legislature. The bill, which would abolish the country's carbon tax, failed to get past the senate when first proposed by Tony Abbot's Liberal-National coalition in Sept. 2013, but a number of senate seats have changed hands since then, and the measure is expected to have a better chance this time around. "Scrapping the carbon tax is a vital part of this government's Economic Action Strategy because the carbon tax is bad for jobs, it hurts families and it doesn't help the environment," said Prime Minister Abbot. "By scrapping the carbon tax we'll save the typical household about [A]$550 [$519] a year."
