摘要

LNG exports from the East Mediterranean are unlikely to materialize any time soon, after an Israeli government committee recommended that at least half the country's offshore gas finds to date be used at home. Around 28 trillion cubic feet (800 billion cubic meters) of gas has already been discovered, of which the US Noble-operated Tamar and Leviathan fields account for 26 Tcf. The panel said 14 Tcf (400 Bern), equivalent to a 25-year reserve, should be retained to supply the domestic market, and the rest exported — but an Israeli energy official tells WGI that the exports will only go ahead once the 14 Tcf has been developed and linked to the Israeli grid.
