FERC Sets US Gas Quality Precedent

Last month the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission(FERC)ruled on a precedent-setting gas quality case that's likely to have significant ramifications for development of the US LNG industry.The case,AES Ocean Express LLC Vs.Florida Gas Transmission Co.,arose in 2004 when AES proposed building a gas pipeline from an LNG receiving terminal in the Bahamas into the Florida Gas Transmission(FGT)system(WGI Aug.ll'04,p3).The parties involved failed to agree on gas quality and inter-changeability issues,and FGT and others complained to FERC.
