Oman is in talks with international companies experienced in unlocking tight gas reservoirs about developing gas fields in Block 6,where Royal/Dutch Shell-led Petroleum Development Oman(PDO)has been the operator for decades,Omani sources in Muscat tell WGI.The aim is to unlock an estimated 20 trillion-60 trillion cubic feet of gas in place.Omani proven gas reserves are put at 24 Tcf and probable reserves at 33 Tcf,but failure to bring more gas supplies on stream is pushing Oman towards imports,possibly from Iran and Qatar.
