The Southwest Europe spot market softened markedly this week, as mild temperatures fostered bearish sentiment, while Asian prices firmed on hefty demand. The Southwest Europe price fell 450 over the week to $10 per million Btu, while the Northeast Asia price was up 400 to $15.30, according to WGI assessments from Monday for spot cargoes for delivery four to eight weeks out. A less amply supplied system pulled Britain's National Balancing Point (NBP) up 520 Monday to $9.18/MMBtu, as assessed byWGI, sharply narrowing its discount to Southwest Europe. September futures were up 430 to $8.85/MMBtu on ICE.
