The fast-moving play for position in Australia's burgeoning LNG patch continued this week with Chevron's declaration of plans to develop its 100%-owned offshore northwestern Australia Wheatstone gas field as a new LNG project,possibly coming to market before its larger but long-stalled Gorgon development(WGI Feb.27,p8).
