German utility RWE will open a flagship supply and trading business unit in Essen late this month, including a new state-of-the-art trading floor that it says will be the largest of its kind in Europe. This new center will handle the group's 40 billion cubic meter per year continental European gas procurement activities, which RWE is aiming to grow to 60 Bcm/yr by 2013.
