摘要

Gazprom's recent agreement with Turkmenistan on key pricing principles will mean a sharp increase in the cost of the Russian state company's gas purchases from the Central Asian country from 2009 onward,thus solidifying its role as a major buyer of Turkmen gas.It also paves the way for detailed gas supply talks with Ukraine that could conceivably lessen that country's dependence on Turkmen gas obtained via Gazprom,in favor of heavier direct reliance on Russian gas.
