The start of US LNG exports in February marked the opening in what many forecast would be a price war in Europe between US LNG and pipeline gas. So far, pipeline suppliers, notably Russia's Ga2prom, appear to be winning the battle. Not one US cargo has to date arrived in the competitive Northwest European market, although two have made it to the more isolated markets of Spain and Portugal (p4).
