摘要

Northern African countries have all announced ambitious rewable energy programs but gas is set to remain the domi-nant power generation fuel in the region until at least 2020, according to a new report by consultancy Frost and Sullivan. While political instability has been especially detrimental in Libya, Egypt and Tunisia, delayed implementation of electric-esector reforms — such as removal of fossil fuel subsidies, establishment of independent regulators and regional grid integration — is limiting the development of renewable ener-gy across the region, the report says. Frost and Sullivan expects the power capacity to reach 120 gigawatts in 2020, up from 62 GW in 2012.
