While there's no shortage of proposals positioning Turkey as a corridor for gas flows to Europe, progress remains scarce. An optimistic Israel last week said it was close to a deal with Russia on gas supply via Turkey and Blue Stream as part of a larger project — first raised in 2006 — that would also see water, oil and elec-tricity connections between the two countries (WGI Feb.8'06,p3).
