The amount of installed wind power capacity worldwide passed the 100 gigawatt milestone in early 2008, following years of heavy investment that have seen thousands of turbines erected around the globe, both offshore and onshore. Last year set records for wind park completions, with more than 20 GW of new capacity brought on line.
