Late December saw both ConocoPhillips and Royal Dutch Shell conclude final contracts with state Qatar Petroleum(QP)for 30% stakes in projects dubbed Qatargas-3 and -4,respectively - confirming that,whatever Qatar's hesitance about gas-to-liq-uids and pipeline projects,it's still gung ho about selling LNG,particularly to the US.Additionally,the consortia jointly awarded a 4 billion contract for construction of what will be Trains 6 and 7 at Qatargas to French Technip and Japan's Chiyoda,thereby keeping 2009 completion dates within sight for both.
