Gazprom,China Deal Looks Close

Gazprom expects to sign a cooperation agreement with China National Petroleum Corp.(CNPC) during President Vladimir Putin's planned visit to Beijing next week - the first indication of major progress toward eventual pipeline exports of Russian gas to China since Gazprom took over the lead from East Siberian Kovykta field holder TNK-BP in negotiations with the Chinese and South Koreans for such a project.
