Panama Restarts

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) and a group of contractors have agreed to resume construction of a third set of locks on the canal after a cost dispute led to a work stoppage earlier this month. The GUPC construction consortium, led by Spain's Sacyr Vallehermoso, had downed tools after the canal authority refused to reimburse the construction firms for $1.6 billion in cost overruns on the locks (WGI Feb.5'14).
