Asia Prices Hit Record on Tight Market, Remain Firm in Europe

Prices in Northeast Asia maintained their upward momentum, spurred by lack of cargo availability, surging 40￠ to $ 19.70 per million Btu and passing last winter's $19.40/MMBtu peak, according to WGI assessments for LNG cargoes for delivery four to eight weeks ahead. Prices in Southwest Europe edged down 5￠ to $15.50. The UK National Balancing Point (NBP) day-ahead price, assessed by WGI, plummeted 58￠ to $9.99, with February NBP futures similarly plunging, by 76￠ to $9.86. Netbacks for Mideast sellers were around $4 higher on Asian than Southwest Europe LNG deliveries, while UK-Belgian netbacks for Mideast sellers lagged Asia by around $10.25.
