摘要

The impact of security problems on North African gas output was highlighted in the International Energy Agency's (IEA) Medium-Term Gas Market Report, published last month. The problems were underscored in January, when a deadly militant attack on Algeria's In Amenas gas complex led to the closure of the facility's three processing trains, one of which has still to reopen. The report discussed the attack under the heading: In Amenas -An isolated event or the taste of things to come? Concerns about safeguarding gas supplies and staff led to visits to London in March by Algerian Energy Minister Youcef Yousfi, and to Algiers by Japan's deputy foreign minister Shunichi Suzuki in January and EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Jul. 6-7.
