US gas futures were seeking a floor last week, after the September gas contract slid into the low $3.30s per million Btu shortly after taking over the lead position. August rolled off the board on Jul. 29 at $3.459/MMBtu after a four-session 28.40 plunge as weather forecasts cooled. The contract expiration has been steadily sliding since the May contract expired at $4,152. However, prices are still well over last year, when the August contract expired at $3.01/MMBtu.
