Saudi Arabia could inject long-awaited momentum into the world's nuclear newbuild industry, which remains stalled by a combination of Japan's Fukushima disaster, cheap US natural gas, and lower projections for electricity demand, after the nuclear team leader at King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (Ka-Care), Muhammad Garwan, said last week that the organization is considering issuing a request for proposals for nuclear reactors as early as next year.
