摘要

Royal Dutch Shell is hoping to succeed where a host of oil exploration giants have failed with a three-year deal to gather seismic and drill one deepwater well in Turkish Black Sea waters. Whether Shell has any more luck in the reputedly gas-prone westernmost Turkish sector remains to be seen, but attention is already turning to the country's shale gas potential as the search continues for domestic sources of gas to ease the burden of costly imports amid soaring demand (WGI Jan.9' 13).
