The US Supreme Court has decided to hear arguments early next year disputing narrow aspects of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) authority to regulate greenhouse gases from large stationary polluters — rales that, if upheld, are expected to cut coal-fired power generation in the US. Relatively low natural gas prices in recent years have already reduced coal's market share to 37% in 2012 from 48% in 2008, according to Energy Information Administration data.
