Oman: Two Into One

Oman's two state-controlled LNG companies, Oman LNG and younger sibling Qalhat LNG, merged on Sep. 1 with the goal of presenting a "bolder, more unified front" to the international market. The integration, which has been under discussion for over a year, aims to boost revenues by cutting operating costs, taking advantage of economies of scale in shipping and logistics, and maximizing opportunities for cargo swaps and diversions (WGI Sep.5' 12).
