Egyptian Upheaval Causes Trouble for BG

The first of two Qatari cargoes that BG is set to receive in partial compensation for the diversion of gas to the Egyptian market is due to load in Qatar on Jul. 31, as the UK gas giant remains caught up in Egypt's political and economic crisis. The Egyptian authorities have been diverting output originally earmarked for export to the cheaper local market to alleviate shortages, and Qatar has agreed to provide Cairo with a total of five LNG shipments to help cover the export commitments, with talks under way on further deliveries.
