Analysts Cut US Natural Gas Price Forecasts on Ample Supply

Analysts have lowered their forecasts for US natural gas prices in the fourth quarter of 2013, citing ample supply, despite the winter weather wild card still ahead. The average analyst composite spot wellhead forecast — the average wellhead price across the US — is now $3.75 per million Btu for the final three months of the year, 280 lower than the average in a similar survey compiled by sister publication Natural Gas Week three months ago, but about 150 higher than current Henry Hub prices (WGI Aug.7' 13). All but one analyst who participated in both surveys lowered their forecasts. The high forecast is now $4, while the low is $3.25.
