Monday, Sep. 2 was scheduled as the launch date for Italy's new forward physical gas market, MT-Gas. But it appears to have had a slow start, if indeed it traded at all. The Italian government issued a decree on Aug. 9 entrusting state-run energy exchange GME (Gestore dei Mercati Energetici) with operating the new market. More widely known for managing electricity trading in Italy, GME has since 2010 had a similar, if smaller, role for gas.
