摘要

The development of oceanic remote sensing makes it possible for a satellite altimeter to obtain more and larger spatial scale wave height data in a large region than can be observed in situ, and facilitates study of the integrated characteristics of sea wave field. Most sea wave theories, such as probability distributions and wave spectra, were so far based on time varying properties observed in situ . The distribution character of the random wave height field in a large-scale region could be measured in principle by its entropy. The entropy distribution of wave height can express not only the distribution of wave height, but also the fetch and duration. The wave height entropy can also reflect the "chaos" degree of the wave.
