Effect of HSP70 antisense RNA on normal sorghum pollen formation

IT has been found that heat shock proteins (hsp) exist universally in animals, plants, microbes and human beings. Some of hsps possess functions of molecular chaperons, such as hsp60, hsp70 and hsp90, which participate in folding and assembling polypeptides to functional structures and transferring them into suitable sites. They also undertake repairing damaged cellular DNA and nucleolus. Therefore, they are house-keeping proteins and play an important role in maintaining normal cellular life and functions and in cellular response to environmental stresses. There exists high homology in DNA sequence among the hsp of the same molecular weight across species . We have first reported the close relationship between hsps and sorghum cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) , and then we found that it was hsp70 that related to sorghum CMS. We have been trying to make it clear that it is the parallelism or causality relationship. Here we study the problem by using antisense RNA.
