Mr Brodie is one of thousands of Australians who do not want to see old things die away and are vigorously preserving, through restoration and collection, Australia's industrial archaeology, especially agricultural machinery heritage. "I can see an old tractor, any old piece of agricultural equipment, whether it be a bulldozer or an old railway locomotive, and I get this overwhelming concern that it's going to be lost, and an overwhelming interest in what it has done in its life and how it's contributed to the advancement of mankind in a sense," he told World Farming News during a brief visit to Sydney for a Steam Preservation Society exhibition at Menangle.
