This French tree training system brings apple trees into early bearing and works well with several newer varieties. IT'S no surprise by now to hear that new apple culti-vars and new high-density orchard systems demand radically different training andpruning techniques from what has been used in the past. But it's not often that growers and orchard advisors get such information directly from the source. More than 700 members of the International Dwarf Tree Fruit Association (IDFTA) were treated to such an experience during the group's 39th annual convention held in February, 1996 in Penticton, B.C.
