Root under attack: How to identify and control armillaria root disease in your vineyard or orchard

Armillaria root disease (a.k.a. oak root fungus), caused by Armillaria mellea, is an important disease of grapevines, orchard trees, and landscape trees in California and other parts of the West. While other Armillaria species are found in native forests of the West, only A. mellea kills planted hosts in California. A. mellea occurs in oak forests of California and southern Oregon.
