WITH the approach of the cool weather season in Florida (called "Winter" in the North), citrus growers are prsparing for the possibility of killing freezes again this year. Although several methods are available for protecting trees from the cold, theuse of microsprinklers has become the method of choice in Florida. Of those growers using some type of cold protection, more than 90% use mi-crosprinklers, primarily because they afford an effective source of cold protection as well as irrigation throughout the year.
