Tree Fruit: Keeping A Close Eye On New Pests

SPRING this year seems about as slow as political progress. We can complain about both, but no one seems to be able to do much about either. This spring seems particularly tough for the nation's tree fruit growers, and worth complaining about even ifwe can't do all that much. We've seen tornadoes and floods nationally, and a cold wet spring in the Pacific Northwest. We have suffered delays in orchard cleanup, planting, and early season sprays. We also suffered through a couple significant cold events over winter, so we started off quite trepidatious about tree health and bud/spur viability.
