The move to international markets is rapidly becoming a fact of life for domestic growers. Peddling fruits to foreign markets is an option U.S. growers should consider to sustain revenue growth and offset the effects of a competitive marketplace at home -- but exporting is not something to begin without first assessing available resources and carefully researching target markets. "You can't just drop in and drop out," says Linda Aines, a business and export specialist with the University of Vermont."Give exporting some time. It could take two to five years to get established."
