Satellite imaging allows you to get a new perspective on your orchards and vineyards, giving you a look at the big picture. Harold Brockman had a nagging suspicion that something was wrong. Some of the trees in the citrus orchards he farms in Madera,CA, lacked vigor, and the problem trees seemed to be located in clumps. Brockman, who also grows almonds and pistachios, decided he needed a look at the big picture. He ordered up satellite images of his 280 acres of citrus, which includes 12-year-old Valencias and 30-year-old Mineola tangelos. The pictures were very revealing. "Having the photos allowed us to see a definite pattern," says Brockman. "It was a big help."
