A Company's Battle Cry... We can do it!

In 1982 and just out of college, Tom Luna went to work for Scales Unlimited Inc., located in Nampa, Idaho. Three years later he owned the company. At that time Scales Unlimited was an independent dealership that handled Cardinal and Electroscale as its main lines and had only a few employees. Only 26 years old, Tom Luna took over the company with a true entrepreneurial spirit and a simple strategy of, we can do it. "That's what really kept us going," Tom said, "especially in the early days when we weren't the largest scale company in Idaho. While we were struggling to get a footing, there were many times that potential customers would say, 'I'd like to do this, but company X says they can't or won't or it's too expensive,' and we'd say, 'We can do it,' and then we'd go figure out how." This strategy, by any measure, has been a hit. Today, Scales Unlimited is not only the largest independent dealer in Idaho, but also has evolved into a scale manufacturer. It now has about 25 employees with a territory covering all of Idaho and bordering states, with Idaho offices in Caldwell (headquarters), Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, Tri Cities in Washington State, and most recently, Terre Haute, Ind. (national/international dealer sales office).
