AQUABIO (Brazilian Society of Aquaculture and Aquatic Biology)

The Brazilian Society of Aquaculture and Aquatic Biology (AQUABIO) was established in 2002, and has since been the main representative of Brazilian aquacultural, academic and scientific communities in political and social areas. It also participates in Brazil's National Council of Aquaculture and Fisheries that supplies the government with public policies in order to develop its aquaculture and fisheries sectors. AQUABIO works to promote advances in the technology, science and education needed to develop aquaculture, aquatic biology and related sciences. Its members are from all over Brazil as well as from abroad. The goal of the Society is to foster the dissemination of technical and scientific knowledge on aquaculture and aquatic biology through periodical publications and proceedings of its scientific meetings including one held every two years and known as AQUACIENCIA.
