One of the chapter's major achievements in the last couple of years has been the commencement of regular chapter conferences. The first was the Asian Aquaculture 2003 conference held in Bangkok in September 2003. As previously reported in this magazine, that event was an outstanding success and was instrumental in promoting chapter activities in Thailand. The second chapter conference was New Zealand Aquaculture in the 21st Century, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Auckland on 12 March 2004. I would particularly like to acknowledge the magnificent effort put in by Robert Bishop (APC Board Member) in organizing and funding the conference (see page 6). The Auckland conference attracted about 120 participants who were treated to updates on a wide range of aquaculture issues from the Asia-Pacific region.
