On the 12 March 2004 the Asian Pacific Chapter (APC) of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) held its inaugural local chapter conference at the Sheraton Hotel, Auckland. The theme for the one-day conference was "New Zealand Aquaculture for the 21st Century." The conference was hosted by the Institutes of Western Aquaculture in conjunction with WAS APC in response to the growing call by the NZ aquaculture industry to broaden their networks within New Zealand as well as internationally. As a board member of APC, I have takenup the challenge to help the NZ aquaculture industry with information, workshops and training opportunities.
