Interior Awards Leases in Gulf of Mexico Boundary

The first three oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico boundary area subject to the U.S.-Mexico Trans-boundary Hydrocarbons Agreement have been awarded. The U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) said the leases were awarded to Exxon Mobil Corp. (Irving, Texas), which submitted bids for the blocks located, or partially located, within three statute miles of the maritime and Continental Shelf boundary with Mexico.
