Airports push for cash

Regional Western Australian airports In need of runway upgrades, new lights and general repairs are vying for a cut OF the State Government's 2 million dollars funding pool. Applications for the capital works projects under the 2003-04 Regional Airports Development Scheme ore currently with the planning and infrastructure minister Alannah MacTiernan who is expected to make a decision on the Funding allocation this month. The government will share the costs of the upgrades with the eligible airports, funding up to 50 percent of the project cost. Funding is considered under the categories of planning, access and economic development.
