Komatsu Australia is claiming to have achieved a five-star result with the Dash 5 wheel loaders, the first major upgrade of the Komatsu range since the Dash 3 release over seven years ago. The first models in the Dash 5 range are the 195kW power, 23.2t operating weight WA470-5 and 202kW 25.65t WA480-5. Colin Chamberlain, Komatsu Australia's senior product manager for wheel loaders, said the five-star tag was justified because the new loaders created new industry standards in key areas. "These include the largest and most comfortable cabs on the market, lowest noise levels in their class, highest bucket capacity in their class and, for each cubic metre of material moved, as much as 15 percent lower fuel consumption," Chamberlain said.
