Local approach satisfies BGC

As BGC Contracting enters the third year of two term-network contracts to maintain a vast proportion of the state's roads and highways, it is satisfied that an approach which involves outsourcing a significant amount of the work to local subcontractors has been beneficial for all involved. Under the terms of the contracts, which are worth in the vicinity of 100 million dollars each, the high profile Western Australian-based contractor is responsible for the upkeep of 4280km of road in the Pilbara-Gascoyne region and 2120km of road in the Kimberley region over a 10-year period. Together, the contracts represent 46 percent of the state's land area and a total of 12,500 lane kilometres.
