The Federal Government has appointed a former National Crime Authority chief to head its new interim taskforce into the building and construction industry. Nigel Hadgkiss, previously the NCA's national director of intelligence, took up the position at the end of last month. The interim taskforce has established offices in Melbourne, Perth and Sydney with a single national freecall number, 1800 00 33 38. The taskforce was established by Federal Employment and Workplace Relations Minister Tony Abbott in response to the first report of the Cole Royal Commission. Commissioner Terry Cole called for an interim taskforce to investigate claims of coercion, collusion and intimidation in the industry.
