Survey confirms GST woes

A nationwide small business survey has confirmed the negative impact on small businesses throughout Australia of mid-2000 introduction of the new tax system, including the goods and services tax.Accountancy body CPA Australia carried out the research, which found that 39 percent of small businesses considered the new tax system had a negative effect on their overall business performance, 42 percent were neutral and only 19 percent saw a positive impact overall.
