CCF seeks higher MRWA role

The Civil Contractors Federation has backed the continued outsourcing of Main Roads WA construction work, but has thrown its weight behind a return to in-house administration and superintendence of contracts.The CCF is preparing a submission to the Review of Main Roads Contracting, set up by Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan and headed by former Main Roads commissioner Dr Ken Michael (Western Contractor, August 2001).As the peak representative body for the civil construction industry, CCF speaks for the companies that carry out at least 70 percent of Main Roads construction works in Western Australia. Even though contracts are let to large national or multinational companies, CCF members physically carry out the majority of the road construction and allied works. The majority of the Main Roads term network contracts are also with CCF members.
