Danieli adds wire rod line, upgrades wire rod mill

Italy's Danieli announced several contract updates for its production equipment and systems. Aceros Arequipa SA will add a new high-speed wire rod line to its existing bar and light section mill. Danieli Morgardshammar made modifications to the plant that transformed it into a continuous rolling mill, and the latest line is an additional upgrading, a release stated. Danieli will complete the mill with a new wire rod production outlet made up of a 10-pass, high-speed Delta finishing block, water-cooling line, loop layer, controlled cooling conveyor and coil forming and finishing services and two SHS stands at the intermediate mill, the release said. It noted that the new line, designed for 100-mps finishing speed and 2.0-t coil, will enable Aceros Arequipa to supply the market with 5.5 to 16 mm wire rod in low and medium carbon steels for construction and drawing purposes. Startup is scheduled for early 2004, it noted.
