A study of this relationship finds that the functional relationship between tensile strength and torsion can be used to predict torsion values. The functional relationship between the tensile strength and torsion of the individual wires under different operational conditions are adequately represented by the equations presented in Table 2. There is a gradual decrecse in torsion value of wires due to the inductance of brittleness and surface quality deterioration, which are depicted by the corresponding curves. As there is a functional relationship between tensile strength and torsion, the torsion value can be predicted if certain elements are known. These factors include: the rope construction, rope diameter, type of rope and period of use, and operational as well as environmental conditions are identical to the case considered. The equation indirectly led to the estimation of the life of a rope. The time for a fall in torsion value starting from the new rope, corresponding to a certain value of tensile strength, indirectly suggests the possibility of estimating the life of a rope.
