Tafisa Rising: Like a phoenix from the ashes, Tafisa regenerates itself with advanced technology, enhanced efficiency and innovative designs

The biggest particleboard mill in the world is back in full force. Tafisa Canada, in Lac-Me-gantic, Quebec, recently started a new era of production after a fire that forced a rebuild. The integrated particleboard and TFM plant has a yearly capacity of approximately one million cubic meters (547 million square feet) and a footprint of 65,000 square meters (700,000 sq. ft.). It is also the most advanced anywhere. "It's a one-of-a-kind facility," says Louis Brassard, Tafisa's chief operating officer. "Among other unique aspects, it's the only plant in North America with two continuous particleboard presses."
